#17 PBWiki

Ok, I set up my Wiki page. Put a recipe and a calendar on it.
Also played on the PBWiki homepage and made a couple of edits.
Checked out the favorites list and checked on a several of them.
This isn't too hard. Just go back and watch the little video clips if you run
into problems.

#16 Wiki land

I can see where wikis could be useful. I had a couple of favorites:
1. SJCPL subject guides--My favorite I think. Can see where it would be a very useful tool at the reference desk or if you do a bunch of research on your own. It would be a good way to keep track of sources for popular topics or hard to find topics asked at the reference desk. "We should make a note of that for the next time we need to look this up. It was hard to find." is something I have heard. This would be a easy to keep and organize system for those "notes".
2.Book Lovers Wiki --it is a list of book reviews. When you click on a title, it links to your card catalog and you can see if it is available.
3. Bull Run Library Wiki--It is like a newsletter about a library system. "What's happening". It is also FULL of information and articles. They have one called Library elf that works like our email system to patrons. Also I found one I really like http://www.m-w.com/ Check it out and see what it is.

#15 library2.0 / web2.0

The world of reference help is every changing. Used to be if you wanted to learn how to speak a foreign language for instance, you needed to look for a book. Now we have so many choices: books, book on cassette or cd, even dvd's/vhs tapes. I am sure you can also find a source to teach a foreign language on the internet. For instance download an ebook to your home computer. In short, librarians need to be ready to help with a wide variety of sources for any subject a patron needs information on. It is an ever changing world and we have to be ready for what comes next. They need to keep up to date on all forms of reference in order to help their patrons----or themselves.

Basically, that is what they were saying in all the articles in #15.
Teachers need to require both print resources and also internet resources for the reports they assign their students. Students still need to learn how to look things up in books, but they also need to learn how to do it by the internet.

#14 technorati

Tried several of the popular topics:
1.Directory---had information, photos and videos on topic
2. Tags--tried couple tags located on page from directory
very little if anything on original topic. They just take a word out of original topic and talk about anything and everything
3. blogs----mostly chit chat on anything, very little mentioned on original topic

If I was to use this technorati site, I would stick with the main directory. This isn't for me.

#13 del.icio.us

This is an interesting site. If someone is doing a lot of research on a topic it would be wonderful.
Also, if you just want to bookmark various websites of interest to check back on later, it is handy that you can check them on ANY computer no matter where you are at. Just log into your del.icio.us account.

Oh now to just keep track of all these accounts we are creating for future use!

I added several bookmarks to my account.

poodwaddle.com/worldclock.htm not only has the world clock, but also statistics of different things
nakedalarmclock.com (no nudity) for an alarm clock and also a clock that shows accurate time
Moronland.net/moronia/moron/1064/? bad slogans when translated to other languages
worldcat.org (look for items in libraries near you)

#12 Rollyo

Well, I went in and created several searchboxes in Rollyo. I can't seem to get it to link to my blog. Will try again later to link it.

I added one for: greeting cards, online shopping, crafts, and recipies.

#11 Library Thing

These are the books I added to my library in Library Thing. Not sure how to link it any other way. Suggestions please??? Tried pasting the html code it shows, but didn't work. Help!!!!

I played around in this site for awhile. Found different ways to list them in columns. I don't know that I would ever use this for me though.

#10

Well, this one was definitely lots of fun! Could play in here all day trying different generators!
I have included several that were among my favorites. Can see lots of possibilities here.

Hope you enjoy the pictures I posted from this today.

This is from the LolCat Builder generator. There are lots of pictures to play with!

This one didn't come out quite like I thought it would. It is supposed to have a magnifing glass in it. "I can see clearly now, but what am I looking at" is what it is to say. It is from the FlashPix.com site.

This site is fun! After trial and error, I managed to download this. It is the glitter bubblegum font. Will try more at a later time!
